EXTREMELY RARE EARLY 80S NE WAVE GEM!!!
This song was so amazing and a smash hit in the college radio and New Wave scene, but as quickly as they arrived...they disappeared. I have been actively searching for a recording of this; of any kind, since about 1986! That was only about a year or two after the track, actually titled "CHRISTIAN BOY", first dropped, outside of its hometown anyway. I was originally introduced to it on the ground-breaking, college radio show, The Rock Avenue which aired on KUNV, brodcasting from the UNLV campus.
22 years I have been looking! Totally fruitless. That is a long time to spend being sent to the Christian music section over and over and over and over, to not find even ONE random music geek who has even heard of it. That being the case, it goes without saying that I am beside myself at having stumbled upon this on youtube. If you have not heard it, which apparently nobody has, then you should without a doubt have a listen, it has got a great feelgood infectious quality. And I mean if you are any kind of fan of the New Wave/80s New Rock genre, its the whole ball of wax. It really is. I am curious to know what happened to them, which is what I am going to try to find out now while you listen to this.....
***16mm film by Don Starnes featuring Robert Seidler on vocals, Doug Van Blaricom on guitar, Vlad Malinovsky on keyboards, Jim Clausen on bass and Kevin Powell on drums; performing their 1985 San Francisco radio hit filmed in Cole Panther's old Oakland studio on 9th Ave.
